TO CAST OR NOT TO CAST...

Castings , auditions, fittings, meetings, you know the drill. Driving in LA - gas prices way over $4.00 a gallon. I get it! It it what it is , and we are trying to get the castings closer together in any given day to help out with the driving.
Next week we even have some models carpooling to direct meetings for out of state bookings.
Yesterday two models that happen to be best friends went to meet a direct client and both booked it - so on that note they both work and only had to drive one car- saving a lot of gas!

What I do not get is why when we are doing what we can to get castings for our people that we get complaints via email if the models were not booked or not the perfect size?
Does anyone out there actually think for a minute that we are sitting here plotting against your gas tank and sending you to a casting you cannot book?

Let me ask you another question? Would you go back to a client or casting director and send them a nasty gram because they did not book you? No, if you ever wanted to have a chance to get booked, you would thank them for the opportunity and move on. The same goes here - when we get calls complaining about the drive or gas prices, these are things that are out of our control.

I really think that there is something in the water these days - so let's just all remember that we are trying to do the best we can to get you booked. Clients have a limited number of people they will book - so if you are not right for one job, keep your head up and go to the next casting.

Maybe it is a Friday afternoon thing - but whatever it is, I know that if you were not right today for something that you will be right for something else -
And for the people that were booked today for the catalogs, show, and sales events- Congratulations!

FIT MODELS - BECOME PRINT MODELS?

So the other day I met a new model that came to sign up with us for more work.
I asked her what she has been doing and how available she was for castings and bookings.
She told me her schedule was pretty filled up with fittings so she was not sure how much more she could take on.
She seemed to be pretty busy - once I asked her about her fit schedule, she told me that she met these clients and became their fit model after going out on a print audition.
This seems fair enough - this model knows how to work it! She went to a print audition and when asked if she would fit their line she agreed!
The complete opposite happens as well - one of our fit models works with a high end denim company and since she fits the jeans and looks great in everything - they use her for print and shows! Now that's creating value in your industry.
Remember that as a model you are always looking for ways to bring value to your clients and agency. Stay on top of your game, and stay healthy, fit and well packaged!
